How to Choose Typefaces
essential basics to make the text in your church communications clear and readable
Good typography is essential to clear communication, but few church communicators have any training in this area. Because of that typefaces are often chosen because they "look interesting" but "interesting" is not a good criteria for good communication.
The best type choices in church communications should be invisible, which means you should never notice the typeface you are reading, the words, the message is what you should focus on.
This course is a very brief introduction to a topic that can take a lifetime to master, but it will give you the essentials you need to make good type choices.
In addition to the video of the course, an e-book on typography that consists of reproductions of a number of past lessons on typography is included.
If you follow the recommendations of this course your communications will both look more professional and their messages will come through more clearly.
For over 25 years I've helped church communicators create more effective communications. I wrote the first book on desktop publishing for churches in 1992 and many more books and articles on church communications since then. I traveled all over North America doing seminars for thousands of church communicators, founded the ministry Effective Church Communications, and currently create training materials and write for church communicators from my home in Ventura, CA.
